Optica-App 2 represents a comprehensive overhaul of its predecessor, rebuilt entirely from the ground up to enhance functionality and user experience.

The application is hosted on a dedicated server designed for optical and software development purposes, ensuring reliable performance and precise calculation capabilities tailored to the fields of optics and optometry.

Primarily, Optica-App 2 functions as a calculation tool; however, it also offers visualization and explanatory features that facilitate communication with clients or patients. These features are particularly valuable for illustrating complex concepts, thereby strengthening customer relationships.

The software encompasses five specialized calculation modules:

<ol>
<li>Transposition: Computes the transposition of the spherocylindrical formula and visually represents the optical cross with the respective power arrangements.</li>
<li>Distometry: Calculates spherical and/or toric powers considering vertex distance (lens-to-eye distance).</li>
<li>Over-correction for toric lenses: Determines adjustments needed for rotation effects in toric lenses.</li>
<li>Addition: Estimates the theoretical addition based on the user’s age and working distance requirements.</li>
<li>Lens Thickness: Provides approximate measurements of edge and center thickness at key points of the lens, aiding clinicians in advising clients on suitable lens types. This feature can serve as a valuable selling point.</li>
</ol>

Note:

Lens thickness calculations are approximate, not accounting for lens curvature and other parameters provided by lens manufacturers. For precise measurements, it is recommended to consult specialized lens design software offered by lens suppliers.
